Bubble
Her first word.
Last night, I was reading Clifford Counts Bubbles to Caroline when she said her first real word, aside from a loosely-applied "Dada" and a mumbly "Mama" directed at no one in particular.
The book, as you may have astutely gathered from the title, repeats the word "bubble" approximately 43,002 times. On the second to the last page I thought I heard her say it. So I repeated it. She said it again. And three more times before I decided to let her go to sleep.
I just can't get over how fast this all goes.

That is awesome! My son's first real word was "bubble," too. :-) Congratulations!

Your dad was pulling for "grandpa!" Oh well, bubble is a close second.

Awww! How cute! My daughter's first word was "doggie". And she pointed at someone walking a dog, so I knew she meant to say something too! I was in shock! They grow up so fast!

Isn't great when they start saying their first words? My daughter's first word was "zapato" which means shoe in Spanish. I was hoping it would be water or milk but no, shoe.

"Bubble" was the first word of BOTH of my children, in two completely different contexts (one while blowing bubbles, one while watching them on some form of Baby Einstein-esque show) so I guess it's a hip word for the young crowd. Good for Caroline!

Isn't it a miracle how they learn to speak?! Congratulations!

Awww, so cute!
Carter said yellow yesterday as his first real word. It sounded more like "ellow" but it was cute nonetheless.
