Holy crap! It's a thing! My (or more accurately, now that I've claimed several other recruits, "our") numbers with genders and personalities thing - it's a real, verifiable phenomenon! And, it's a form of synesthesia! I could not be more shocked.
I also now believe that my "quirks" are a result of being a visual-spacial learner, perhaps with a touch of dyslexia to boot. Big shout out to Maria for the tip off.
Now I have to try and go to sleep with a mind that is reeling in far too many ways...
