You know the phrase "desperate times call for desperate measures". I've decided to substitute "drastic". It has that same seismic shift feel to it, without all the flailing. Or at least, less flailing.
Yesterday was an up, down, all around kind of day. Todd went in to sign on with a new real estate group only to learn they were hiding some key facts, like hidden transaction fees and that they were on the verge of bankruptcy. So he thought better of it and is going to remain on his own, scrapping away however he can.
Our renters, who had initially been quite calm about our decision to sell, became alarmed at the notion and found a new place. They're vacating in two weeks. This means we'll have the additional cost of our old house (and utilities, which aren't cheap during a Texas summer) for the whole time it's on the market.
Next month we'll get another increase in our health insurance premiums, and our income taxes are due. And the compressor in Todd's a/c went out - which is unacceptable since it's the car he uses to take clients out.
SWEET!
But there is the good news of continued work for me and the BlogHer conference (I'm so close to being done with fundraising! Won't you be glad! Get in on the raffle, by the way.)
So, in the spirit of that much over-used saying, and in the interest of less confusion at the conference, I've made some changes to my blog. Go ahead and look around. It's sort of like when the Berlin wall came down... only, you know, infinitely less consequential.
